Himesh & the art of monopolising TV

I've often thought of posting about the way Himesh Reshammiya has been monopolising the music channels, but always postponed it thinking that it was a temporary phenomenon that would blow over sooner rather than later.

But looking back to this 'phenomenon's' origin, you realize that it's soon gonna be a year since the OST of Aashique Banaya Aapne came out & set the charts on fire. Ever since then, Himesh has come out with one hit soundtrack after another as if off an assembly line & the trend seems set to continue well into the future.

Switch on any Bollywood related TV channel/FM station & 7 out of 10 (seriously!) songs/videos will feature him in some form or the other. He either lends his voice to 'em or does the music or is acting on the video. Thank God he hasn't taken to penning the lyrics yet!

I'd go so far as to say that I've never seen a single artist monopolise airtime to the extent Himesh has in the time satellite TV has existed in India. And the reason for it is not too difficult to fathom .... his tunes are genuinely catchy & have a high 'hummability' quotient. But his nasal twang & the propensity to cast himself in all his videos & that too as the jilted/dumped lover can get mighty irritating at times. And the lesser said about that regulation baseball cap + denim jacket/trenchcoat + mike held at eye level outlook of his, the better.

Still, to give the guy his due, nobody kicks a dead dog .... let's see how long this monopoly continues.

Himesh Reshammiya has won the hearts of millions by his nasal activity and high voltage songs. You go to any party, Himesh rules there, u start radio, there also he yells...u start TV, Himesh will appear with the trademark look that you have rightly mentioned.
Lot of people have started mimicking him, lots have used his songs as humour.
Lot have been said of him....
BUT..

You love him ... you hate him.... you simply cant ignore him(esh)...atleast at this point of time.

Hmmm... Guess People like him...and his voice. and therefore he is hit.. Guess another thing good singers/music directors are busy separating from one another, and are mostly seen in music/talent shows.. Anu malick and sonu nigam are always busy with indian idol.. Kumar sanu has made himself separted from the industry, Udit narayan busy with his marital matters, Shaan busy with music talent shows .. and even big directors and producers are now lining up his music.. and even a small budget producer can make have his music done from himesh.. THink of grade B films with Grade A music...Now you can say who is too blame...
and the most valid point you mentione dis about his dressing sense.. but dude have you looked him when doesnot wear those caps and denim jackets.. When you see him you will say for yourself .. he is better with Caps....
and his singing talent is unquestionable, but the only thing is his nasal sound..
Nasal sound.. so what that was a hit too when suraiya used to sing..
If Bappi lehri, annu mallick and other music directors can sing why not him.. His success rate far better than others, and apart from that he likes giving chance to new commers .. check it from his music tracks...
I say all this not because I'm fan of his.. but he himself has done Hard work to get to the position in which he is..
He belongs to Bihar... and i guess its high time to let Bihari's rule the chart.. and guess what the Bhojpuri Industry is also looking good... ;-)
