Apaharan
What is heart warming to see here is the effort that has been put into the making of this movie. The cast, their characterisation, the performances extracted from each & every one of them, the effort to maintain authenticity, the taut narrative, the background score, the extent to which the story can be juxtaposed with what's actually happening in Bihar .... everything melds really well into making Apaharan the great movie it is.
Ajay Devgan is becoming like wine, he's getting better with age .... so good is his performance. And the background score (by Wayne Sharpe) .... it's probably the first time that it has matched what's being shown on the screen so well.
It's a dark, brooding tale of how the 'system' has been twisted so brutally out of shape in the badlands of Bihar. And it was worth double the money I paid to watch it. Hats off to Prakash Jha .... for making what is perhaps THE best movie of 2005.
